Sidebar Creative

A new collective is born: Sidebar Creative!

Sidebar Creative is the combined talents of Steve Smith, Dan Rubin (aka Superfluous Banter), Bryan Veloso (aka Avalonstar) and myself.

We put the Creative together as a way to pool our resources on larger projects and to have a company from which to expand our reach.

It's nice to know that I have a great team who has my back and whom I can readily refer work to. I couldn't be luckier to be involved with a great group of guys. The talent that each person brings to the table is impressive.

If you're looking to have one or all of us help you out on a project, head on over to sidebarcreative.com!

Congrats Snook!

Wow, that was unexpected!

Quite the all-star roster you have assembled. I dig the fact that you really are doing what so many agencies ought to be doing: bringing a group of people with very different skills together so that they compliment, rather than conflict.

Adrian L. said on January 25, 2007

Brilliant idea, something I've been toying with for a while. I am really happy you guys have done this.

How do you find your skillsets meshing, so far?

Jonathan Snook said on January 25, 2007

Adrian: we've only just begun working together as the foursome to set up the site (the portfolio right now is just a collective of individual works) but already, it's feeling really good. It's nice to have each of us with some overlap in skill but still focused within our own niches. Putting the site together was very collaborative with each person just hopping in, making changes, and moving on. We'd discuss something and it'd just get done.

I was waiting for the outcome of Bryan's Skype screenshot from a couple weeks back. This is huge! Congrats Jonathan.

Looks like great concentration of knowledge! Hope you have an abundance of interesting job opportunities to come!

Be well!

Andy Kant said on January 25, 2007

Congrats! I'm a fan of most of the people involved, so thats pretty sweet.

Excellent!

I expect world domination shortly.

That is the spirit!

bob said on January 26, 2007

Nice start, but is this site temporary?

Things like putting each case study in a image only accessible if you have javascript enabled, don't lead me to believe you are "the best".

Peter Flaschner said on January 26, 2007

Right on Jon! I have no doubt the 4 of you will be turning out some fantastic work. I haven't met Dan, but the rest of you are some of the warmest, most talented people I know. I'm super happy for you all.

Ara Pehlivanian said on January 26, 2007

Congrats!

James Mitchell said on January 26, 2007

Very cool. I wish you all the best of luck! FYI if noone has listened to the podcast with all 4 in it yet... it is hillarious.

From the 101: Episode 18

Very cool guys. Working as a small group is much better than going alone. Especially if you all have Wii's. ;)

Jonathan Snook said on January 26, 2007

@bob: the images are still 'accessible' without javascript. Accessible in the fact that they'll still load if a user does not have javascript. However, they are still not accessible by screenreaders, search engines, etc. since it is just an image. This is something I definitely wish to address sooner rather than later.

The site is just a first step to getting something up live and the site will continue to grow and morph.

@all: thanks for all the kind words!

Jonathan E said on January 26, 2007

Congrats Jonathan! Sounds like it's going to be a great collaborative effort for all of you and I'm excited to see what's to come.

Karinne said on January 26, 2007

Holy smokes! Talk about nice co-workers to work with *lol*

Congrats Jonathan!

Kenny Saunders said on January 26, 2007

I'm looking forward to seeing the what you guys will be able to produce together.

Bset of luck.., not that you'll need it ;)

Nathan Smith said on January 26, 2007

Congrats. The only problem with you all announcing it is I have to say "congrats" on several blogs! :)

Walker Hamilton said on January 26, 2007

That's fun. I really like the site.

....I looked at it earlier today. But it's having some problems loading now. When I did look at it I thought that the sub headline in the third strata down was funny but I can't remember what it was, now.

Chris Hoeppner said on January 26, 2007

Like I said over there, the bar has been risen once again. Congrats!

Adrian said on January 27, 2007

Congrats and goodluck to you all! Do keep us updated on new projects, it'll be exciting seeing what you guys come up with.

Jonathan snook?
POST a comment ---->IE 6 ↑↓?

Jonathan snook 你的 POST a comment 无法在 IE 6 里面上下移动吗 ?

Jonathan Snook said on January 27, 2007

Luyikk: I think you're asking why the post a comment thing doesn't go up and down in IE6? It's because it sticks using "position:fixed" which IE6 doesn't support (but IE7 does).

luyikk said on January 27, 2007

thank you

Kilian Valkhof said on January 28, 2007

That's one web-superhero group! Best of luck to all of you :)

one note: the bragging, while legitimate, may alienate some :p

Also. The logo is so simple. and so awesome.

Johan said on January 28, 2007

who came up with the name *sidebar*?

Chris Murphy said on January 28, 2007

It's about time! Congratz dude, you've been talking about going down this route for a while now, it's good to see that you're finally getting there you want to be!

Jonathan Snook said on January 28, 2007

@Kilian: indeed, the bravado (as Greg Storey called it) might put off some people. For the launch, we really just wanted to get people's attention, which I think we did. :)

@Johan: Dan Rubin came up with the name, mostly because he had the domain registered already. :)

Andy said on January 29, 2007

Congrats Johnathon!

like the site design, what font have you used for the large text at the top of the page?

Johan said on January 29, 2007

@Johan: Dan Rubin came up with the name, mostly because he had the domain registered already. :)

He put the domainname aside (sort of speak)

I hope he did not coin the term Ruby as well.

Tarellel said on January 29, 2007

Wow great work, I can't wait to see what you guys come up with. I mean with such a collaborative, group of creative individuals like yourselves, I think anything is possible.

Nate K said on January 29, 2007

I know I am a little late (My son was born last week - so I have been out of the loop). The site looks great, and you have a great team assembled! I look forward to seeing the work you guys produce.

I know many have already said it, but congrats - this looks like a great opportunity!

Peace,
Nate
