Still here?
I think there's actually an official delurking day but this isn't it. I'm just curious. I've been running this blog now for a few years and it has been interesting to see people come and go when it comes to commenting — both here and on other blogs.
So, if you've never left a comment, or haven't in a while, stop by and say hello.

Well, this seems lika a good time as any to de-lurk myself. Good writing, and good design keeps me going here.
But lurking is such fun : ) I'll buy you a beer when I come to Canada to make up for it. Now back to the shadows!
hmm... i thought just now, i saw a new design ??
or is it just me ? when i refresh it's back to this dark one ;)
anyway your blog have given me much knowledge, and since it's too high for me to comment (too many experts) :P so i kept silent :P
but i guess i drop a comment now, and say thank you very much ^^
keep up the great work sir ^^
*cheers from indonesia*
Hi Jonathan, might as well de-lurk myself after being a faithfull reader for over 2 years. Love your blow and your stle of writing! Keep up the good work!
I've been reading your blog since... Well, I can't remember actually. Anyway, I've never had the need to add anything to your posts, mostly the tips you keep handing out. So for all those times you've taught me something new: thanks!
First you mention shutting the site down, then this... Are you having some insecurities? :)
BTW... Hello! :D
I'm a lurker. You caught me.
Hello there folks.
I live therefore I lurk :)
hello
Don't think I need to de-lurk but figured I'd say hello anyway! I generally comment when you post something especially useful, although I still read virtually every post of yours.
In addition, you're the reason im trying to learn cakephp, but it's going albeit very slowly. I'm waiting on a tutorial about how to build a user system (logons/accounts) along with validation, etc. with cakephp! :-P
As always, nice work and love the new layout!
Yep, I'm a lurker, though haven't been for long, having discovered your site only quite recently. Liking it a lot.
Hello.
Lurker de-lurking! Fabulous design, very handy tips, good writing -- that pretty much sums up my reasons for visiting. Oh, and that killer comment box of course. :-)
Hello Hello!
I guess I feel the same as qureyoon for too many experts voices around that my voice need not mentioned. :)
Love your site.
Bula from Fiji.
err.. hello... how's the coffee in ottawa?
Time to de-lurk. I should comment more often but I try to avoid it on principal, unless I have something genuinely useful to add. Seeing all of the useless and sometimes downright rude comments on other blogs (not yours I must admit) puts me off I suppose.
Anyway, love the site, love the articles and love the redesign so far. Keep it going mate!
Ok, hmmm... I have to hand in a secret report everyday about your blog (the mission have going on since your started). Great recommendation and tips about Javascript, CSS etc. Oh, top secret material.
To be serious, I love the new white redesign. Like going from the darkside to the lightside! ;)
So keep up with the good work!

Hello :o)
Just reading (and learning!) from Saint Etienne, France...
Great site, great design and great articles !
why hello. i always like reading your blog entries. i often check your rss feed before my gmail rss feed. i think your website is one of the best designed sites i've seen on the web. i'ts neat how each of your versions is durastically different, but still looks extreamly recognizable.
cheers from burnaby
*waves quetly*
Meow.
This is actually the first time I've ever left a comment on a blog. I'm sure the reason is obvious - I have nothing of value to contribute.
Nevertheless, thank you Jon for the time and effort you put in to your amusing and often insightful articles. As I'm sure you're discovering in this post, there are many people out there who appreciate it - but don't often express their appreciation. Please keep up the wonderful effort, and know that we are very grateful.
Nick
(P.S. I just noticed that the comment preview updates itself as you type - very cool.)
Hello! I'm usually an RSS lurker, but hey, I can comment too. Here in WInona, MN there's not much else to do anyway! I actually quoted you on my blog the other day, I'm sure you noticed the influx of traffic (just kidding).
I am a lurker. Guilty as charged. Your site is, among others, on my list of resources for DOM practices. Loved your article on Digital-Web
Hello,
Been a reader well for quite a while now, but have always just quietly remained a lurker.
So here it is my first post on your site, all be it a not very interesting one :)
Only been reading for a month or two, found your website from the withcake website. Love the blog, keep it up
Hey Jon, still reading, still lurking!
Hello :-)
I don't comment often, but I am a subscriber.
Hello! Long time reader, first time poster -- love the site!
Long time reader, first time poster.
Keep up the good work.
I'm a proud lurker, but a seldom commentor.
I normally don't comment but really enjoy your posts.
still here :)
Hello :) Felling lonely or something?
Hello
Yeah. I just generally won't comment on anything except the most intriguing things about CSS, browsers, HTML/XHTML, XML, SVG, unobtrusive javascript, PHP and things like that. Ironically, I don't think I've ever left a comment in your blog before. (since I am, I should point out I love the fixed positioning comment box...very clever and interesting)
Still hear, still going strong...
Been reeding your blog for awhile now, but don't believe I've ever actually left a comment. Not sure why. Keep up the nice work.
Weeee!
No I will not delurk... damnit!
Yeah I keep track of this place over RSS and pay a visit when I see an article that interests me. :)
Lurking. Your blog actually broke the news to me about IE7 amongst other things.
$this->unlurk();
I'm a fairly recent subscriber from the UK. Avid reader, occasional poster.
Guess it's time to stop lurking with netvibes. I'm usually way too chatty on IRC to really put in time for blog comments though QQ, but maybe I will start doing that soon.
Hi
I have been reading your blog for a while now and I realy enjoy it.
I am a student at the moment and started studying javascript, php and mysql for a project but I enjoy web design.
I find your blog a real insight and inspiration on where I want my skills to be.
I shall lurk no more!
Wow... Quite a few comments for so early in the day! Thanks everybody.
Mislav/MichalT: Working from home all the time can be a little isolating. And I think I'm starting to get paranoid. I'm a short trip away from conspiracy theories and plans to take over the world.
Hayo: The coffee is good. :) You'll have to stop by sometime!
Brett: I did notice! (I check my referrer logs)
You know I read your site all the time. :)
Like your blog, javascript stuff is my favorite. I like when you share your tips / style, even if it's not "advanced". Also more insights into CAKE would be interesting as I've never tried it but your blog makes me interested...
take care, keep it up!
Hi - I've been reading your writing for a while now but I normally only read this (and many others) via Bloglines so I don't leave many comments anywhere.
Love the content so keep it up. Maybe I'll leave comments more after this :-)
Can't say I've read your blog that long, but it's been a few months. I really appreciate the insights and thoughts on modern JavaScript approaches you freely give to us!
I have commented before though, I think. Usually like to take part in the discussion if I'm intrigued. Don't know if you've noticed my brainless thoughts though :-)
So, here's a thank you from Norway!
Wow... Quite a few comments for so early in the day! Thanks everybody.
I have two hours 20 minutes til I'm off for the weekend!
Hello, from Argentina :)
Definetly a lurker... but hey what do you expect... I can't even write on my own blog!
Cheers man!
Hi from Calgary, AB!
Never commented on your blog before, but I read it regularly. Love the new design.
Been lurking here for a while... I'm just getting into JavaScripting so I haven't really had anything to contribute.
Interestingly enough, when you were at Fuel, I was working just down the street at a different webdev company: MARSWorks. Around the same time you started working at home, I did the same, although I'm still with the same company (but working from Toronto). Being at home can definitely be isolating. Maybe I should get one of these blog things...
Another confession of an RSS lurker, paranoid and working from home in Toronto.... I can totally empathize :-)
Hello, from Sweden... :-)
Hello from a lurker. Great blog.
Sup!
Well, I read your blog and I don't remember if I've ever commented. Love the new design, and hello!
Cheers and thanks for being a source of signal rather than noise!
Greetings from Columbia, Missouri! Pretty sure this is my first post. Lurking is more my style :)
Hey Jonathan. I think I've commented on your site a few times. Anyways ... I love coming here. Nice to see someone from the region (Ottawa ;) ) being out there in the web dev world and speaking about it. I've learned alot with blogs like this one and so I thank you.
One thing I'd like to know as my little web design hobby seems to be getting a bit more out there lately is, do you use any project management systems like Basecamp. Or things like Blinksale for invoice. Stuff like that? Or did you create your own?
I did that ... I created my own but, it took me so long just to get the invoices stuff working that I didn't have time to add things like a To-Do list and Milestones and other little extensions to help me with managing various projects.
Thanks!
This is pushing it. I only comment once a month, now I'm over my quota :(
Karrine: Ottawa representin'. woot. :)
I'm currently using the new Outlook beta to handle to-do lists and milestones. I try to map out my week and put in anything that I remember. I also have post-it notes to keep track of things since they're more 'in my face'. I also have a whiteboard to keep track of active projects. The whiteboard also keeps my wife informed of how busy I am and when money is supposed to be coming in.
For invoicing, I have an Excel template that I've been using for years. I just crank out PDF copies and email them. I'll be switching to Quickbooks shortly to make things a little easier.
I'll try and get into a little more detail in a future post. :)
Hola
I read from an RSS feed, popping in from time to time. My first delurker day I got about 4 comments :(
Hello :-)
Just delurking here! Love the site and the wisdom passed on. I also dig the progressive changes here.
Keep it up.
Still here......hello.
You've drawn me from the shadows...
I recall reading recently that you were feeling a little spent on the blog. Don't stop writing, Snook &ndash there's a ton of us that are really enjoying it. It's sometimes a little above my reference level from a programming p.o.v. (my emphasis is on design) but it always tends to pull me up.
Cheers from Toronto...
Howdy Jonathan, howdy all from beautiful Abilene, Texas. I'm a professional lurker and an amateur commenter. Keep rolling out that great content!
Long time listener, first time caller!
Hi,
My name is Dustin - and I am an alcoholic. I use your site to help me recover from my addictions. I'm a big fan of this here Canadian dude so keep up the great work.
I can't remember if I've left a comment in a while or not...so here you go.
The live redesign is starting to look pretty good.
I like coming here because this is one of the few well known blogs that has good programming discussions instead of just design.
/de-lurks
/waves like a mentalist
/re-lurks
I lurk, via Bloglines... though visiting the site is a lot more fun.
I'm going to de-lurk, but very very quietly.
Mostly read your feed.
I'm in Lethbridge.
Andy.delurk();
Jonathan: I live on the other side of the river so it's close enough :D
So ... more on the "manual" stuff eh? ;) Interesting! I always like to hear how fellow web designers and developpers handle their project managements. Thanks alot!
Hi there. This is really a beautifully designed site.
Why hello there.... Haha sorry I couldn't resist. "stop by and say hello." I won't leave you with just a hello though... After about a year of reading your blog I have grown to love your it and the advice that you give. I only wonder how you have have time for it. I constantly have to battle with myself to find time for a blog post.
Yes, it is true, I am a confirmed lurker. Love the site, the whole thing is amazingly inspirational! Keep it up!
¡hola compadre!, greetings from Temuco, Chile
Hello Jonathan,
I'm a big fan of your work, relatively newcomer. Keep up the good work!
It's just that everything you write is way over my head ;)
Way to represent Canada, dude. Keep up the good work! Hope to see you again soon.
I came and saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor the wealth to the wise but time and chance happens to them all.
Keep up the good work!
Delurking... and dropping a line to say Hi :)
*From the Island... B.C*
Well, i guess I'm next, then! I'm one of the swedes frequenting this eminent blog. Studying Information Architecture at Malmö university in the south of Sweden, trying to get a small web design/IA firm up and running eventually.
Also working with customer support at the internet branch of a bank here, mostly to annoy the hell out of myself (oh, that and to put some food on my table...).
Thanks for a ton of interesting posts, Jonathan.
Delurking only briefly...
uh.. hey there!
This comment will cost you! Keep up the great work.
Hi Jonathan, it's another lurker.
Great designs and lots of nifty innovative stuff here. If I need inspiration I often drop by :)
*lurk lurk*
Hello, I've maybe left one comment in the past.
This site serves as an inspiration and all-around technique/design resource for me. It's in my "daily sites" rotation!
Keep up the good work...
Hi :) from Slovakia.....
Yo.
Been a reader for about a year now. Love the blog =)
Your site's been in my feed reader for years now, and I frequently wow people by directing them here.
It always works!
Hi from France!
Hi from KY.
Hello. Glad to see you back. I enjoy reading your blog very much. Loving the redesign and the use of Cake. Keep up the good work.
Hello :)
Hi
Im still around!
But since I comment on a regular basis I might not count :(
Can I keep my lurker badge?
Hello, my minty friend ;)
I'll be lurking if you need me.
Recently found your blog via CakePHP. Great site!
Delurking from bloglines.
Always great stuff around here. Although I'm usually reading from Google Reader... I try to get out from time to time ;-)
Hi Jonathan - just thought I'd say hi from an avid lurker. See you at SxSW (hope you get the speaking gig there). Rich.
I'm fairly new at this, so I mostly just sucking it all in, and hoping to have something to contribute in the future. Your PHP and Javascript posts are over my head most of the time, but I really enjoy your Fireworks tutorials. And I like reading what fellow Canadian web designers have to say.
Still alive and kicking :)
Keep up the good work!
I very much enjoy the work that you share here. I've linked to your blog a few times recently. It's great stuff.
Love your work. Keep it up, you rock star you. Shine on you crazy diamond. Etc.
Long time reader, first time delurker.
Thanks for the knowledge :)
Your articles are great. So are your designs. Congratulations, great blog.
Hey!
Began reading after your WebVisions 2006 presentation.
Great site!
Delurking from Harrison, NY, USA...
Salve,
Continua così... io seguo da febbraio il tuo blog via aggregator.

Hi,
Go on running this blog... I am reading you from february using my aggregator.

Hi from a lurker lives in Istanbul, TR.
I'm a first time visitor, thanks to a link from 456 Beret St.
Great content and awesome, slick design. Will definitely be back.
About that comment box. I tried going through your JS to figure it out but man ...I got lost in what I need to change for my purpose. Don't worry I'm not using the comment box thing on my site. I'm just trying to figure out how you did it :)
So ... how about it? eh? :P
Comment only occasionally - im more of a regular lurker really :)
I visit your site often for your JS tips. For reasons I'm not sure of, I never added your feed to my rss reader until today, so now I won't miss anything.
Karinne: the comment box is mostly CSS-driven using position:fixed. The only JavaScript is to handle the horizontal scrollbar, as need be. There's an updatePosition function in there somewhere that calculates that for me (or something similarly named).
I'll check that out. Thanks :)
Reading your blog since a couple of months (from Wellington, New Zealand), and especially like the cake-related posts and thoughts on redesigns :)
Yup, de-lurking.... Howdy Jonothan ;-)
Just catching up on my RSS after a long project, but yep, I've been here now for a while.
Keep up the consistently great work!
well, ok, Hi then :)
I like your 3D design, but more as the conceptuality of it, then the way it actually looks; it's a bit weird for the eyes to jump from the 3d effects to reading text ... but ok, I hope your style evolves in something we get see more, it's kind of flat out there now
In this world nothing is certain but death and taxes.
