On Reaching 400 Posts

Just a quick aside. This is actually post 401. Back on September 23, 2003, I set up MovableType. It's the point at which I really decided to jump onto this whole 'blog' thing. Previously, I just used this site as a resume and to post a few things that I had been working on at the time. Most of it was hand-coded but MT was big at the time so I took the plunge and installed it.

400 posts, over 2200 comments, over 2000 feed subscribers and two and a half years later and I'm still enjoying this. SXSW this year was an affirmation of the joy I get from doing this. The site has also been the catalyst for allowing me to go freelance full-time. I've expanded on my network of friends and colleagues. I've met and conversed with so many nice and talented people, it's hard to imagine giving any of this up.

For those of you who've been reading the site for a day, a month, or a year, to you I say, "Thank you." If you've never left a comment, be sure to stop by and say hello.

Good Job Snook

I've tried viewing your code in browsers [view source] But i can't stand it, it's just a bright searing light.

2. When I click on a link you've created, my whole arm does that bumpy, alien, morph thing, but just for a second.

3. You dont write code, you tell the code what to do.

Well congrats. :)

I'll admit, I actually just subscribed to your feed a few days ago...But of course I'd been here many times before and have known about this place for like...a long time.

Don't ask me why I'd never subscribed earlier, it was probably one of the more stupid things I've done.

After reading my comment again I realized that it could likely be taken the wrong way...

I meant that by not signing up a long time ago I was being stupid, not that signing up was stupid.

Just thought I'd clarify that. ;)

Hmm... I'm at 223 posts with 2,210 comments. How wierd...I'm 10 comments ahead of you...arg. with this comment, I'll be only 9 ahead!

Dustin: I'm actually at 2282 (oh, make that 2283 now) comments. ;-)

Johan said on March 22, 2006

over 2200 comments = 2283?

Johan said on March 22, 2006

Besides, quality over quantity. Future over nostalgia.

Hello :)

Jonathan Snook said on March 22, 2006

2283 is over 2200, isn't it? :)

Julie said on March 22, 2006

And thanks to you, Jonathan. I've been a subscriber for a while, and learned much along the way!

Must say, I do enjoy stopping by to read ever now and then. I have never commented before, but I thought I would at lease say hello.

That's outstanding, Jon. Keep up the good work.

(I'm approaching 3 years on my site as well. My first post was on March 24, 2003.)

Glad you've made it this far. Thanks for sharing so much useful information. I can say that I've never had SQL commands explained so clearly as I have seen it here. Thanks again and congratulations.

So what you're saying is, you generally lie on your blog? :p lol

KarmaDude said on March 22, 2006

Wow! That's cool! Keep on going man, and thank you for all the information you share. Hopefully you will not run out of things to post.

I recently reached 100 posts on my blog, and it was interesting to reflect on the whole blog journey.
