Margarita's

Margarita’s labels themselves as having Latin fusion and authentic Mexican cuisine. They’re located on the east side of Bank Street close to Lansdowne.

With a name like Margarita’s, you might guess that they have a decent list of different margaritas and you’d be right. But I wasn’t here for the margs, I was here for the tacos! I ordered three: al pastor, birria, and tinga de pollo.

I started with the al pastor and enjoyed the flavour, although perhaps a little heavy on the pineapple. I liked that the shell had a bit of crispness to it. I asked and no, the al pastor is not done on a trompo.

The quesabirria was decent with a good amount of cheese but I like my meat...wet. I wanted it dripping with consommé. That’s just my personal preference. It was still a tasty taco and I liked having the side of consommé served with.

Lastly and sadly least was the chicken taco. Unfortunately, I found it very underwhelming. It was bland and flavourless and mushy. I stopped half way and didn’t bother finishing it.

Two out of three ain’t bad. If I was giving tenths of a points, this place ranks just slightly above average, if you get the right tacos.
