Fiesta & Tequila

Another day, another taco. Or two. Or three. This time, it’s Fiesta & Tequila on Preston. There’s a few taquerias along Preston with this place closer to Somerset. It’s a sizeable place with a number of booths and even some patio seating (while it’s still warm).

I ordered a trio of tacos: al pastor, cactus, and pollo con mole negro. No surprise at this point but no, the al pastor isn’t done on a trompo. I feel like I need to give these places some grace. It’s a lot of meat to throw onto a spit and if you have an extensive menu like this place does, it’s going to be harder to go through everything in a day of service.

All of the tacos here were really solid, with everything piled high. The al pastor was moist and flavourful. The cactus taco was surprisingly good. It’s been a few years since I’ve had one and this was better than I remember. And the mole with the chicken was rich with an occasional hint of sweetness. I did feel like the rice disappeared in this, though, acting more as filler than flavour.

I wouldn’t mind coming back here just to sample tequila and mezcal, with the tacos being a delightful plus.
