Corazon de Maiz

Corazon de Maiz is in the main Byward Market building and has been around for years. Although it had been years since I've been, if you asked me where to go for tacos, this was the place I'd recommend. I decided to stop in for lunch and ordered three tacos: chicken, beef, and pork. Nothing is labelled "al pastor" and I think I appreciate that it hadn't.

I started with the chicken and the first bite hit the spot. The more I ate, though, the more I found the chicken was mushy but still had some flavour. The beef was a bit dry. And the pork had a couple tough bites of meat but then was decent.

I had a tough time ranking my experience because it was fine but I still left feeling dissatisfied. The saving grace might have been the pico de gallo that topped all three tacos because it was fresh and provided enough oomph to elevate the tacos.
